INDIVIDUAL THERAPY  

 

Individual therapy is a collaborative process. 

You will bring to our meetings your life stories and the issues you want to work on. I will bring my professional expertise and different techniques to support your personal development.  

Together, we will expand the awareness you have about yourself, your relationships and the problems that are impacting your life. In this journey I will be by your side until you decide to conclude therapy and continue progress on your own, with the skills and confidence you acquired during our work together. 

FOR FRIENDS

With some friends we share a lifetime. They are together

in good moments and hardships. Others, last only a season, but yet stay present in memory and our hearts. Psychotherapy for friends is an opportunity to nurture and celebrate the bond you created and share along the paths of your life.

Or perhaps a place to take care of an wound in your friendship caused by an event, hurtful words, misunderstandings or diference in opinions and values.

Taking care of a relationship is taking care of yourself, your friend and the story you have together.

COUPLES

Couples therapy is a form of psychotherapy that can help you and your partner to address in a safe environment the issues that are impacting your relationship. Together we will explore your stories as individuals, as a couple, and the relational inheritances that you bring from your family of origin. We will look into the pillars of your bond, the values you share and diverge, and the way you communicate love. We will also work on the relational patterns, behavioral dynamics and the different ways to conflict resolution.


FAMILIES

It is for individuals who want to have healthier family relationships. Frequently our colaborational work will include techniques to improve communication and explore ways to share thoughts, emotions and needs. How to prevent conflicts in everyday life and solve them in healthier ways when they occur.

Family therapy is also reccomendad to help individuals to be aware of their singularity, roles, and relational dinamics. Or when one member is going through a hardship and the family unifies in order to give support.

MORE ABOUT ME



I am a licensed psychologist in Brazil by the CRP-RJ (05/44532).


I graduated in 2008 from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), and I hold a master's degree in Human Development from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).


During my master's studies, I deepened my understanding about the experience of migration from a psychological  perspective. Supporting clients with relationship issues due to cultural differences emphasized my interest in the topic. In 2018, I was certified as a couple and family therapist by VID Specialized University in Oslo (Norway).

I specialized in therapy for intercultural couples and multicultural families.

I am a professional member of the Norwegian Association for Family Therapy.


Since 2016 I have exclusively dedicated myself to my practice where I see individuals, couples and families.



MY APPROACH TO PSYCHOTHERAPY



There are several approaches to psychotherapy and each one of them has its fundaments, theories, and methods.


My work is grounded on systemic practices and narrative therapy.  


Each person is unique and therefore,

I work by combining therapy in scheduled sessions with additional therapeutic activities. They are designed to suit your needs and goals, enhance the knowledge acquired during the sessions, and give you the tools to continue your path when therapy ends.

TAKING THE FIRST STEP

THE FIRST STEP

In your first appointment, we will get to know each other.

I will listen to your reasons for seeking therapy and your expectations about it.

It will also be an opportunity for you to ask questions and clarify any doubts you might have about  therapy and the approaches and tools I will use in our work. 

Together we will evaluate if I am the right professional to help you in this moment of your life.


If we both agree to proceed, we will start  the foundation of our work together by establishing a schedule adapted to your needs and possibilities. 

FINDING THE PACE

You can choose between sessions of:


50 minutes,

75 minutes (1h and 15min),

1 hour and 40 min.


For individuals, it is recommended sessions of 50min or 75min.


For couples, 1 hour and 15min or 1 hour and 40 min. 


For families, 1 hour and 40min so everyone has enough time to listen and be heard.


However, more important than the duration of the sessions is their frequency. Usually, we start by meeting once a week. 

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKES ?

It will depend on several factors; your reason for seeking therapy and what you expect from it.


In short-term therapy, sessions last between three to six months whereas in long term therapy, from 5 months up to years.


In both cases, the length will also depend on the regularity of the sessions and the issues that brought you to therapy.


From the first step to

the last appointment,

we will share perspectives of what would be best for you in terms of frequency and

the duration of therapy.

SHORT-TERM PSYCHOTHERAPY

Ideal for those who like to see results in a limited time frame and are willing to dedicate themselves with extra time at home to the process of self-knowledge.

The sessions are carefully planned in order to target specific goals you want to achieve. 

LONG-TERM PSYCHOTHERAPY

Here you will be invited to talk as openly as possible in order to expand the knowledge you have about yourself, your relationships and the problems that might be impacting your life. 


The sessions follow the themes that are the most relevant for you in a day or a period of your life.
